Black Swan Theater was founded by David Brendan Hopes as Pisgah Players in 1985, as a production arm of the new playwriting workshops of the creative writing program of the University of North Carolina at Asheville. In the years following it has changed its name and grown into a company specializing in new and original scripts, many of them world premieres. Please check out our mildly inflammatory MANIFESTO for further stands taken, and understand that we are open to anything we feel we might have resources and personnel to address.
